The dietician as a professionalThe Italian Association of Dieticians (ANDID) represents dieticians in Italy towards the Italian ministerof Health and all the law and policy institutions. ANDID collaborates with a lot of scientific nationaland international societies and associations dealing with food, nutrition and dietetics. Since 1990ANDID edits its professional journal ”ANDID Notizie” and recently made an editorial project, “theANDID series”, books on topics of particular professional interest. To promote the professionalprofile of Dieticians, ANDID creates Professional Position Papers on the topics where a fundamental,non replaceable, role for the dietician has been documented by the best available scientific evidence,with reference to high quality studies performed by dieticians or by working-groups involvingdieticians. ANDID is member of EFAD (European Federation of the Association of Dieticians) and ICDA(International Confederation of Dietetic Association’s)
Working field
Dieticians have a very broad working field in Italy. Common settings are health systems and food andagriculture systems. Some examples of health systems are:
